Our Story

Where science meets the Mediterranean.

Engineered for your skin. Made for your life.

Elysium Bliss began with a simple frustration: so much of beauty is beautiful but unproven — and so much of what works is clinical and cold. We wanted both. Formulas with the rigour of a laboratory, and the soul of a Mediterranean morning.

Sarah Refky Assaf, founder of Elysium Bliss, on the Mediterranean seafront in Alexandria, Egypt.
The Founder

Meet Sarah — a chemical engineer who grew up between two worlds.

Sarah Refky Assaf was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, with ancestral roots in Upper Egypt — and trained as a chemical engineer. She carries two inheritances that don't usually meet: the discipline of formulation science, and a childhood surrounded by the rituals of a culture that has cared for skin for thousands of years.

She moved to Canada in 2020, and her training found a new home. Today she develops — and makes, in small batches in Calgary — every Elysium Bliss formula the way an engineer thinks: actives chosen for evidence, used at concentrations that work, stability tested, and, for every Clean Line formula, notified to Health Canada. No guesswork. No trend-chasing. No filler.

And she makes each one the way someone who loves Alexandria and the Mediterranean would want it to feel: light, considered, a quiet pleasure to use.

Ancient roots, modern formula

The world's first formulation scientists were Egyptian.

Long before the word "skincare," the Ancient Egyptians — ancestors of our founder, from Upper Egypt — were refining kohl, pressing castor and moringa oils, and blending botanical resins into the world's first beauty rituals. Elysium Bliss is that lineage continued: the same instinct for ritual, now backed by modern formulation science.

Then

Botanical resins like frankincense, prized across the ancient world for skin and ceremony.

Now

That same frankincense, used at a skin-safe concentration in our Radiant Renewal Serum.

Always

Ingredients chosen for what they do — measured, tested, and explained in full.

What we believe

Four values, in every formula

When in doubt, we come back to these.

Rigour without rigidity

We formulate with science and never compromise on safety or efficacy. But skincare should feel like a pleasure, not a prescription.

Transparency as luxury

We show our ingredients, explain our choices, and never hide behind marketing language. Knowing what's in your products is part of the luxury.

Ancient Egyptian heritage

The Ancient Egyptians were the world's first formulation scientists. Kohl, castor oil, botanical resins. Elysium Bliss is that lineage continued.

Earned indulgence

Our products are priced fairly for what they deliver. No perpetual sale. No false urgency. If you choose Elysium Bliss, you choose it because it's worth it.

How we formulate

Engineering, applied to skincare

Every formula moves through the same disciplined path before it earns a place in the line.

01

Chosen for evidence

We start with the active and the evidence behind it — never with a trend or a hero ingredient that reads well on a label.

02

Formulated at concentration

An active only works at the right level. We formulate for performance and stability, not for a name on the front of the bottle.

03

Clean & notified

Every formula is vegan, cruelty-free, free of parabens and phthalates, and made in small batches in Canada. Every Clean Line formula is notified to Health Canada.

Self-care that's beautiful — and substantiated.

Start with The Clean Line — serums, facial oils, body butters and hair care, notified to Health Canada. Or bring the same rigour to the room, with coconut wax candles, reed diffusers and wax melts.
